Laser pulses may feel like warm pinpricks. During each laser pulse the laser is removing the hair by vaporizing it and removing the hair from its source. This can cause a sulfur like smell. Treatment can last anywhere from a few minutes to over an hour. This depends on the size of the area being treated and the thickness of the hair in that area.
You will have no downtime after the treatment. The treated area may appear red and slightly swollen directly after treatment, however most patients return to daily activities.
The possible side effects of laser hair removal include redness, swelling, and discomfort. These minor side effects rarely last longer than a day or two.
For most patients, it is safe to receive laser hair removal treatments every 4–6 weeks, although this varies depending on the patient and treatment area.
